I just created 'my vision' board on my Pinterest recently. Dreams are so much fun when you can see and picture it! One of the pictures in that folder is a picture I took of Trafique, a coffee shop + coworking space that just opened recently.

Ever since I started Female Daily, I've always told myself and everyone in the office I want us to have our own building. I've been told that 'Mimpinya jauh amat, Han'. But I believe if your dreams don't scare you, they are not big enough. Trust me, putting all the pictures in that 'my vision' folder gave me chills, but I gotta start somewhere and be as specific as possible.

I don't have details on how many floors our own office gonna have, but I know for sure that there will be a warm and inviting open area with a coffee bar in the first floor. Seating arrangement will be plenty for the team to take a break, or to work alone or with a group. It's the place where we hold our regular events and gatherings. Of course, it will also be open for Female Daily & Mommies Daily Community as well as for public as we are aiming for a collaborative community.



When will this dream come true? I don't know. I may not there yet, but I'm closer to achieving it now than I was 4 years ago.

Waktu lagi di jalan pulang ke rumah sama anak-anak, mobil kita papasan dengan mobil lain. Karena jalannya sempit dan ada yang parkir sembarangan, lewatnya harus gantian. Oki kasih jalan untuk mobil itu lewat duluan dan setelah mobil itu lewat, baru mobil kita jalan. Trus tau-tau Jehan nyeletuk..

"Kok, orangnya nggak bilang terima kasih, sih?"
"Terima kasih gimana, Je?"
"Iyaa..biasanya kan kalo abis dikasih jalan, Diddy suka dadahin orang yang nyetir mobilnya, atau kasih klakson. Kok dia diam aja?"

Didn't realize that kids notice the small detail like that. Gotta be extra careful arounds kids, make sure we do things we want them to do, or don't do things we don't want them to do. I think all parents should thanks their kids for we are a better person because of them.

I went for a morning jog today at the Car Free Day, and as usual, I waited for Oki at Starbucks. I was planning to do some work but when I just opened my laptop, someone just sat on the table next to me and stroke a conversation about our twin laptop.

So we talked for quite a while. One topic led to another and we ended up talking about Female Daily Network :). I showed him the websites and he asked a lot of questions about the business, the team, how it all started and everything. He listened to my story with enthusiasm, he looked genuinely happy and excited for me. He gave me compliments a few times and told me I had found an unbelievable niche, 'there's a lot you can do with women and the business of making them feel and look beautiful', he said. He looked at me in the eye and told me that I will be very very successful in the future. When he finished his coffee, he said he wanted to wish me luck but he said he knows I won't need any more luck :).

Wow, what a nice encounter with a stranger  named Robert who comes all the way from Chicago for a short visit in Jakarta. He seemed to know that any entrepreneurs can appreciate a pat in the back once a in a while. I didn't get a chance to do any work at all, but I walked out all smiles and was touched by the kindness :).

Apa sih yang diperlukan seorang woman entrepreneur?

Pastinya banyak yaaa! A business is a business, whether it is run by man or woman, kebutuhannya pasti sama. However, women are multirole. Ya sama sih, laki-laki juga pasti ada yang seorang ayah, anak, kakak dan adik. Tapi tetep ya level of involvementnya beda. Pasti perempuan yang lebih aktif urus anak, rumah dan keluarga besarnya. Jadi menurut saya memang ada sih yang sangat-sangat dibutuhkan perempuan, yaitu partner!

I turned 35 last week :o)

It just felt like another day, though. Of course when you get older, you stop making a fuss about your birthday, avoiding questions about age. As if you need another reminder that you are now a year older and getting closer to 40.



Birthday, along with new year is usually the time when I contemplate and evaluate what I've been doing this past year and beyond. Other than the few bags and watches, along with some much needed traveling, I'm pretty content with everything else right now :D. I think I can say that I'm living my dream. Almost everything that I have is something that was once a dream. The house, the school, the business, the husband, the office, the passion and so many other things. Some of those things that I daydreamed was unthinkable, like I had no idea how they where going to happen. But I visualized them anyway.

Gym, dengan segala alat-alat canggihnya itu terkadang bisa bikin intimidated, terutama ketika kita datang untuk pertama kalinya. Belum lagi kalau melihat orang-orang lain yang sangat percaya diri melakukan exercise dan juga terlihat akrab satu sama lain. Waktu saya baru sign up dengan PT, yang saya pikir adalah saya akan menggunakan semua mesin-mesin tersebut satu persatu. 



Ternyata salah!

Setelah beberapa sesi dengan PT, hanya ada beberapa mesin yang pernah saya gunakan. Sisanya? Selain TRX yang sudah saya ceritakan di sini, adalah strength training tanpa menggunakan alat apapun dan sisanya dengan alat bantu seperti barbell, dumbbell, medicine ball dan viper. Intinya, menggunakan alat-alat yang bisa dibeli untuk latihan sendiri di rumah kalau lagi nggak sempet ke gym atau mungkin mau meneruskan sendiri karena udah jago. Ciyee :D.

Jadi itu lah salah satu manfaatnya menggunakan PT kalau menurut saya, karena ‘knowledge transfernya’ yang akan selalu bisa digunakan selamanya. Nah latihan apa aja sih selama ini yang selalu diajarkan dan bisa dilakukan di mana aja? Berikut beberapa contoh:

Being a working mother is not an easy task at all. And it hasn't been particularly easy for me either these past two weeks.

These past two weeks I had a 3 full day conference, one that lasted till 10pm. Both of my kids had a fever in the same week. It broke me to leave the house seeing them just laying helplessly on the bed. The support system is all over the place this week. The driver has to go back home to visit his sick grandma, and one of the maids' mom passed away so she has to go home. The car was also in the body shop because of a small accident the week before. And a list of other things that went wrong at home.

I didn't feel like a good mom at all. I haven't got the time to take Jib to the doctor to have his health certification so he can join the pencak silat competition. I missed his futsal competition. I couldn't bake a cake with Jehan, again. Or make them their favorite chicken wing.

Ke Gym pagi-pagi itu menyenangkan, masih sepi

Two weeks has passed since the new year and the late night date with my laptop has already started! Langsung ngegas begitu masuk kantor lagi :D.

Last week was an interesting one. We kicked the year with 100,000 members! What a way to start a new year, right? About 10 brands approached us last week for a proposal, let's hope those will lead into a fruitful collaboration between us :). I have attended a few meetings outside of the office and an SK-II LXP launch, along with two interviews (crossing finger they will join soon), and a dinner with Female Daily moderators at Pad 28. Internally, in addition to Monday sharing session, I had Dept head meeting, Clozette Daily, editorial, event meeting and the last one was with IT discussing about banner placement.

2013 flew so fast for me, maybe because it was such an eventful year. So much happened, so many new experiences, so much learning involved. Mudah-mudahan sih, I come out of 2013 a better person that I was in the beginning of the year.

One thing that always need to be grateful for: a healthy family. I've been so blessed that aside from minor flu and migraine, we have practically been healthy throughout the year. No doctor was involved, except for the dentist :). I know health is something that we can't take for granted and even though I have taken better care of myself, I cannot say I've done the same thing to my family. So, my goal is to introduce more and more greens to my family. More home-cooked meals prepared by me and (much) less junk food.
