Weird, huh?

This is new...Jibran slept through the night last night…(for babies, sleeping thru the night = 5 hours of sleep at a stretch)..he slept for 6.5 hours..went to bad at 10.30, woke up at 5 to get a 5 minutes feeding and went right back to sleep and woke up again at 6.30..emang biasanya dia pasti bangun sih jam segitu…it’s the time when dendre is getting ready for work..takes a shower and everything..all these activities wakes him up…or maybe he just wants to say bye bye to his daddy..=)). After dendre left…we would just chitchatting in bed for about half hour and then he went right back to sleep..till around 9.30 or so.



Anyway..i think the reason he slept for so long last nite was because I put him on his tummy.. I’ve been meaning to do that but still kinda scared since sleeping on the tummy is one of the risks that cause sudden infant death syndrome. In some of the states..Daycare is not allowed by law to put babies on their tummy when sleeping, if they got busted..they would be shut down immediately, it is a very serious matter. But anyway..i gave it a try last nite cause I thought he can hold up his head for a pretty long period now so it must be ok..he can moves his head from side to side and he can also flip back..besides I put him in his crib which has a flat and a very firm mattress..not like spring bed which is a little bit fluffy…plus I think it is safer for him to sleep like that in his crib than sleeping together with me in my bed anyway ( we do this about half of the nite everynight)…there’s a greater danger with sleeping together…we can be rolling over on him and smothering him, etc..ya udah lah makanya di coba aja…dan ternyata manjur.



Waktu senin minggu lalu juga Jibran slept thru the night..i’m not sure if it was because of I swaddled him or because he took a bottle of formula dendre gave him when I was in class. Formula itu kan harder to digest than breastmilk jadi kenyangnya lebih lama. Or maybe it was because both things combined. But I wouldn’t give him a formula just so I could sleep better at night for now though…nggak tau nih I’m just not that fussy about not having enough sleep..that’s weird considering I was very adamant about having 8 hours of sleep before I have him. Mungkin karena gue emang udah expect kali ya kalo tidurnya nggak bakalan bisa lama lagi. Lagian Jibran juga nggak mau minum formula..waktu itu nggak ngerti kenapa di minum juga..biasanya he would cringe after a few gulp…trus yang nggak mau di minum lagi.


Ngomong2 tentang breastfeeding..it is one of the things that is really hard at first but very rewarding in the end…it’s really not that easy as it looks…I was about this close to give up…huhu. But now I’m enjoying it and I know when the time to wean him comes, I would miss this more than I thought I would. Sekarang Jibran udah tau kalo pas di pangku dan mau di susuin..pasti dia yang cengengesan gitu..hehehe..ketawa nya lain, keliatan excited banget. Sometimes in the middle of feeding..he would stop when I look at him..just to smile at me…huhu…that is my b/f precious moment.

Horee...hari sabtu kemaren jibran bisa nge flip lhoo....i put him on his tummy di karpet..trus gue berdiri dan mindah mindahin channel TV dan tau tau dia berbalik sendiri aja gitu....i thought at first it was an accident, emang dia nya jatoh aja..i put him back on his tummy ehh dia berbalik lagi sendiri..hehe..so it wasn't just an accident nor it was a fluke..dia emang dah bisa balikin badannya..he did it again for about 6 times after that..tapi ada saatnya dia nggak bisa juga sih..udah usaha gitu sampe ngos ngosan tapi nggak balik balik juga...trus nangis deehh..hehehe..


Kemaren temennya Jibran dateng ke rumah..baby Maliha (4 months old)..lucu banget deh masa pas pertama kali dua duanya di berdiriin face to face gitu nggak ada yang mau ngeliat lho..dua duanya buang muka...hehehehehe..kocak banget asli...we all had a good laugh yesterday. Thursday

Siang2 pergi ke rumah tante anne untuk nitipin Jibran cause I had to go to Missouri Baptist Hospital for an ultrasound. Noo…not THAT ultrasound…hehehe..jangan parno dulu ya..:P. It’s something else and thank god the Doctor didn’t find anything to worry about..he just said it’s something normal and will fade away in time. Abis itu ke Delmar…belajar di starbucks…I have exam on Monday...trus jemput dendre di metro station tapi pas mo ke parkiran dia telfon kalo udah ketinggalan kereta..so he’ll be like 15 minutes late..trus depannya parkiran itu ternyata a used bookstore…ya udah deeh mampir aja dulu. Me loves usedbook store..sebenernya sih lebih seneng borders jelas..tapi kalo untuk beli2 sih mendingan di usedbook store lah ya..hehe…Trus abis jemput dendre.. ke rumah tante jemput jibran...katanya Jibran tidurnya lamaa banget di carseatnya..bangun minum susu trus tidur lagi...jadi pas gue nyampe dia juga belum lama bangunnya....dan lagi ngantuk2 lagi gitu..seneng deh pas gue nyampe..dia senyum gitu..padahal matanya lagi kriyep2..=))....sebelum balik kita mampir dulu ke grocery store.


Friday

Went to Asian Market with Jibran….disana ketemu achunk and adi…that was a pretty embarrassing moment cause I forgot their names..malah pertamanya gue agak agak nggak ngenalin mukanya gitu..emang sih ketemu nya jarang jarang..but still..enggak enak banget kalo lupa nama orang. Padahal dulu itu suka sok sok-an kalo lupa nama orang…like it's a cool thing kalo kita lupa nama orang yang inget sama kita..jijay yaaa...tapi skarang asli jadi malu dan nggak enak banget..kesannya ignorant..iya nggak sih?. Anyway…abis itu ke rumah tante…nontonin anak2 yang pada glady resik untuk acara nge band di Purdue..sama mo ketemuan sama Dita juga disana (she was my junior in high school...dia dateng dari Bloomington, IN)..sebenernya dia nyampenya semalem dan mo nginep rumah tapi malem banget datengnya so she decided to stay over at ading’s. Sore nya akhirnya ketemu juga..ya udaaah heboh aja dulu..hehe..last time I met her was summer 2001. Abis itu jemput dendre di airport…balik lagi ke rumah tante..trus pulang deh..tika and irvan dateng trus kita ke St. Louis mills…Cuma makan di Johnny Rockets. Dulu waktu ke Atlanta pernah makan di Johnny Rockets dan kayanya enaak banget..makanya mau cobain lagi aja..tapi kemaren itu standard abis ternyata. Abis itu balik..pada nginep di rumah semuanya.


Saturday

Pagi2 pada lari di lake…pingin ikut siih tapi males…so just stayed at home with Jibran..siangnya lunch di Royal Chinese Barbeque..salted fried calamari…kangkung belacan, fire cracker chicken, deep fried tofu with shrimp..sama chilli oilnya yang tob abis itu..yum yum…Abis itu jalan2 di Delmar..nge-bubble tea…lovely weather..sayang banget kalo cuma di dalem gedung aja..tapi pas mo menjelang malem ke galleria..abisnya angin sih.…beliin baju buat Jibran di Janie and Jack…Dita juga beliin t-shirt lucu gitu buat Jibran..Jibrannya seneng banget di ajak jalan jalan seharian…enggak nangis sama sekali gitu. Trus abis itu balik deh…nonton Final Four...Duke Vs. Uconn...and duke is going down..yay yay yay..it's time for Emeka Okafor to shine...


Sunday

Di rumah aja niyy..belajar buat besok…tapi kita bikin siomay dan batagor request dari Dita and Ading..sorenya ke library sebentar sama dita to pick up some materials for the exam..trus ya udah belajar aja di rumah walopun lagi rame gitu.


Monday

Exam time..huhuhu…Malemnya pulang kelas nonton Championship game..Uconn Vs. Georgia Tech tapi nggak seru gitu...it was an easy win for Uconn


Tuesday

Pagi pagi main main sama Jibran…he's been trying to reach his toes..tapi nggak nyampe nyampe..hehe..lucu deh..trus siangnya liat apartment..trus jemput tante..cause we’re going to get a new haircut…tadinya sih gue cuma mo nganterin aja..soalnya si tante ini mau potong rambut and I recommended Keiko to her. Tapi tante nggak tau tempatnya..emang agak jauh siy..it’s in the Illinois side. Trus ya udah setelah di pikir since gue emang pingin potong rambut juga, I might as well get it done at the same time…soalnya jauh siihh. Tapi apa daya kita sampe sana udah telat 30 menit dari appointment time nya..so she can only take 1 person..ya udah mendingan si tante aja dulu deh yang potong rambut…gue kapan kapan..belum tau juga sih pingin yang kaya gimana. Sambil nunggu..gue sama Jibran ke McDonalds..lucu deh bawa dia ke Mekdi..kayanya dia seneng gitu soalnya warna warni gitu kan disana. Jadi ngebayangin kalo Jibran udah gedean..nanti gue bisa order a happy meal for him..and when they ask whether i want a boy or a girl toy...gue bisa bilang boy toy nanti..=)). Anywayy..abis itu balik ke rumah tante…ehh ada oleh2 buat Jibran dari Purdue dari Adith, Manda and Tira…purdue basketball jersey gitu…lucu sekalii…tapi masih kegedean sih sekarang…wahh Jibran bajunya banyak banget…yang belum di pake aja udah banyaak banget..yang udah di pake juga banyak dan palingan baru di pake sekali dua kali gitu..banyak yang udah nggak muat. Sayang deh. Anyway..trusnya jemput dendre di airport..trus kita liat another Apt di olive boulevard. Cerita nya kita mo pindah lagi niih summer ini, makanya lagi nyari2 apt terus. Oh iya malemnya nonton championship game women college basketball...and University of Connecticut just made a history tonight....team cewenya menang championship game juga..bener2 the first ever in college basketball history...party 7 hari 7 malem pasti tuh di uconville...


Wednesday

Di rumah aja niy nggak kemana mana…cuma masak2 aja..bikin fettuccine, nyoba bikin pastel juga…bikin bubur kajang ijo..trus bikin cah jagung muda pake bakso…yummeeh...tapi emang nggak nyambung makanannya..hehehe..namanya juga lagi iseng..:P


Thursday

Skarang belum kemana mana...Jibran lagi napping..lama banget tidurnya dia dari jam 8.30..mungkin karena di tengkurepin yah..biasanya dia suka nggak mau sih di tengkurepin...i told him he will like it if he just gives it a chance..hehe..bener kan..sekarang udah 3 jam belum bangun bangun..this is the longest record in his napping history. Nanti sore mo jemput dendre dan mo beliin Play Gym buat Jibran..=))..soalnya sekarang dia baru mulai tertarik sama mainan gitu..kalo gue mainin fish rattle nya dia ketawa2 dan ngeliatin..seneng nonton tv juga dia akhir2 ini..suka ngomong sendiri gitu kalo nonton tv..kadang trusnya ketiduran...lucu deh...

I just read an interesting article about Louis Vuitton – the world’s biggest, most profitable luxury brand- in Businessweek magazine yesterday, and I think I’m now understand why people feel it’s such a prestige to carry an LV handbag, I mean I knew it’s vuitton..but it just didn’t seem like a big deal to me and I didn’t see it as a symbol of elitism or whatsoever..but now that I’ve got the sense of what’s going on behind the scene..I think now I know what makes it unique and beginning to appreciate it more.. Oh by the way, one of the Vuitton’s addict who was interviewed is an Indonesian who was walked off the Paris boutique where she purchased a cylinder-shaped Papillon monogrammed toile bag..(hmm..lissaa..was that you?..hihi)..naah..hehe..she’s a 35 years old woman yang lagi liburan disana..pasti deh tante2 yang rambutnya panjang bawahnya melingker2 keluaran salon LuVaze..hee hee…


So what happens behind a locked door in the basement of LV’s elegant Paris headquarters?? Here’s a quote from the magazine..

They are really focusing on giving the best quality, especially since they have the lifetime repair guarantee policy…rugi di mereka soalnya kalo quality nya jelek..rugi di both explicit and implicit costnya, that’s why they still manufacture in France despite its expensive labor markets, cause it gives them easier quality control. (They have 11 factories in france and 2 are across the border in Spain). Louis Vuitton is also very exclusive..the network distribution is rigidly controlled (Gucci sama prada masih ada di saks, neiman marcus, etc) and now expansion is underway for them..baru buka their first boutique in India…di new delhi nya and plan to open one in Bombay. Di China ada 9 butik LV and another 4 will be opened in the near future. Di new york juga lagi di bangun (atau udah jadi?) butiknya yang besarnya bakalan ngelebihin butik terbesarnya di Tokyo. Selain retail distributionnya yang exclusive, vuitton juga nggak pernah ada sale..no vuitton bag is ever marked down, ever. Yang ada juga harganya malah tambah mahal. Right now, they have $3.8 billion in annual sales, thanks to those Japanese customers who account for an estimated 55% of sales. They say almost every grown up Japanese woman already owns at least one Louis Vuitton item. Trus sekarang nih, LV lagi giat giatnya memerangi LV Knock off products, satu pabriknya di Guangzhou udah di tutup.


Sepertinya, one of the factors why Vuitton is growing is because the arrival of one of the greatest designers around, Mr. Marc Jacobs, who has brought a different color to its rather conservative vuitton design, jadi koleksi louis vuitton nggak hanya berwarna coklat aja. although I'm beginning to appreciate it more.. i still don't see it as a status symbol and also still don't see it as a trully work of art because it's still a result of mechanization and mass production afterall...hmm..jadi kalo art itu harus selalu hand made and limited kah?..
